Book 4 U
I started reading Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond last night. So far it is quite an amazing book. It really ought to be a staple for any world history class. If you have any interest in human development, and how the environment, agriculture, animal domestication, technology, population and political organization have effected it, check this book out. I am a huge avocate of anything that helps you understand the past. How else can you project the future?

I hope you don't mind me leaving a comment on every blog. Emily's talked about this book several times before. I almost bought it at Barnes & Nobles. I just started "From Alexander to Cleopatra: The Hellenistic World" by Michael Grant. It is about the post-Classical but pre-Roman Greek age. The period of world empires started by Alexander and finished by the Romans. It is cool. I like that time period and highly recommend "Tacitus: The Annals of Imperial Rome" and "The Twelve Caesars". More of the Western outlook was set here than people realize.
